COVID-19: MOT Rule Change for Cars, Light Vans
Mandatory MOT testing is being reintroduced from 1 August 2020.
Due to the coronavirus outbreak, drivers were granted a 6-month extension. However, as restrictions are eased, all drivers whose car or van is due for an MOT test from 1 August will be required to get a test certificate as normal.
Drivers with an MOT due date before 1 August will still receive a 6-month extension. The DVSA are clear however that vehicles must be safe to drive and roadworthy even if an MOT date has been extended. Motorists can be prosecuted for driving an unsafe vehicle. More DVSA Information here.
That’s why many customers are still choosing to have their MOT carried out just now even although their expiry date has been extended.
We certainly expect to be busy over the coming months, so would recommend you beat the rush and book a test with us as soon you can.
